Do You Need a Do Over?

When I was growing up, my favorite thing was when all the kids in the neighborhood got together to play a game of kickball. But one of the best parts was a rule we had set in place called “the do over.” This meant, if it was your turn and you messed up all you had to do was yell, “Do over!!!” and you got another chance to do it right.

I often think of that and today I’m still grateful for the “do-overs” God gives me when I mess up. Maybe it’s because I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I take comfort in the fact that I always get another chance to get it right. Do you need a “do over” in your life?

There was a time that I felt such despair as I looked at the mess that was my life. There is nothing worse than feeling as though you have permanently ruined your life. Hopelessness is suffocating. BUT GOD…

Thankfully, as I fell on my face that day I discovered a mercy and grace that saved my life. I realized God wasn’t condemning me. He wasn’t pointing the finger at me saying, “I told you so!” Although, He did lovingly show me the error of my ways – the poor decisions, the stubborn heart, and all the lies I had believed that got me to where I didn’t want to be. But God didn’t leave me there. He reached down and pulled me out of the pit of hopelessness and gave me yet another chance to get it right. I got a “do over” that day – A fresh start. Another chance. And you know what? That hasn’t been the only time.

God’s Word says in Lamentations 3:22-23 that His mercies are new EVERY single morning. They never run out. He doesn’t get sick of us or give up on us. Instead, as we turn to Him, He lovingly wraps us in His arms and leads us down the right path that will help us to have His best in our lives. As a mom, I want the best for my kids. I never want them to suffer. I want them to have success and reach their full potential in Christ. If you’re a parent, I’m sure you can relate. How much more does our perfect Heavenly Father want this for us?

So like me, maybe you’re in need of a “do over.” God’s arms are always open to you. Run into them today. Let Him love you, heal you, instruct you, and set you on the path to victory in your life. Today you get a “do over!” Praise God!!

Meditate on the following scriptures:

Listen! The LORD’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call… Isaiah 59:1

Do you sometimes feel your mess is too big? Or that God is unaware of what is happening in your life? He hears your prayers and is faithful to answer. He can and will deliver you from trouble and help you get on the right path. There is nothing that you can do that will cause God to turn His back on you. Say a prayer of faith, thanking God for hearing your prayers and for the deliverance He is bringing to your life.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

You may have heard this scripture before but make it personal. God has good plans for YOU because He is a good Father. His intentions towards you are always good. We may be imperfect but He is perfect. And his love and mercy endure forever. Thank God for the good plans He has for you. Ask Him to give you a vision for your life.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23

You will never get lost when you follow Jesus. Commit to the Lord to not lean on your own understanding but each day follow His leading in your life. Seek Him first and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you make decisions for your life.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 136:1-3

Take a few minutes to just praise God and thank Him for His mercy that endures forever. Meditate on this throughout the day. If the enemy tries to bring condemnation speak out this scripture. God’s mercy towards you endures forever!
